INTERSECTIONS OF MEDIA, ART, SOCIETY AND TECHNOLOGY.

Encore (Location: lust gallery)
Encore (Location: lust gallery)
Art, music and aggression can be the same thing. After many generations of youth who were obsessed with music, the boundaries between art and music are dissolved. Many artists create works that transform their ultra ego into a rock star. However, the artists can also be a music addict by exploring their own fetish for Vinyl records and other collectables. The essence of the encore is ones need for more.
Curator: Max Lust
Bjørn Sengschneider
In essence, Bjørn Sengschneider’s works deal with social, urban, cultural, individual and personal intersections: marginalized groups, urban peculiarities and local conditions are selected, re-arranged, mixed, mashed, overlaid, cut, and, thereby creating an own confronting and contrasting point of view. Music always plays the integral part, which on the content side, has a characteristic and identity-defining role, and on the formal level, plays an interrogating role of musical traditions.
Johnny Hawaii (aka Albert Mayr)
Albert Mayr, in an almost neo-dadaistic way, recycles the iconic fragments of our everyday, common office surroundings: computer screens, CD-drives, networks of wires are being turned into functional objects, gates and doors, fountains and showers,... Austrian based Albert Mayr's approach is properly described as expanded sculpture, being an artist's articulation in space, matter and form. His artistic alter ego Johnny Hawaii easily crosses the border-lines between spatial installation and sound.
Martin Rille
The sculptural and performative works by Martin Rille make us believe that future is closer than we think: it corresponds to a time-dimension in which we are able to "unfold" our stories through sensible body-films that make us "speak" through the movement, guide us in a sort of a sensuous dance enhanced by mysterious music and noise produced by dark and shiny "sound" suits, made of audio tape and entirely sustainable, besides potential futuristic scenarios, trigger awareness of environmental urgencies of our present time.
